    The Graduate Diploma in Behavioural Science consists of 12 psychology courses from our existing undergraduate psychology programs. The sequence of these courses has been approved by the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council (APAC). The courses are equivalent to those studied by undergraduates.

    The special sequence requirements mean that this program must be done part-time over 3 years. This will allow you to build upon fundamentals and develop greater knowledge and a stronger ability to apply your knowledge.

    Learning and teaching

    RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.

    You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.

    Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.

    Professional recognition and accreditation

    Upon graduating you can apply for a fourth year of study in psychology (e.g. RMIT’s Honours year) and beyond that, into APAC approved programs that lead to full membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

    To be eligible for full registration as a psychologist, you’ll need to complete our Master of Psychology program (2 years full-time or 4 years part-time).

    In addition to tuition fees there is also the Student services and amenities fee (SSAF). You may be able to defer the fee through the SA-HELP loan scheme.

    Pathways

    If you complete this program at a Distinction-plus level you can apply to do an APS approved fourth year program - like the Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) (Honours) or the Graduate Diploma in Psychology.

    If you graduate with less than a Distinction level, you can apply for non-APS approved fourth year programs, like the Graduate Diploma in Education.
