RMIT officially announces School of Media and Communication

RMIT University is pleased to officially announce the School of Media and Communication which will begin operating from today, 6 July, with teaching commencing in Semester 2, 2009.

Incorporating the Schools of Applied Communication and Creative Media, the new School is expected to strengthen RMIT’s already significant presence in the areas of media and communication.

The School of Media and Communication will be one of Australia’s largest dual sector schools, offering a range of Higher Education and TAFE courses to an estimated 3300 students.

Programs include study options in games, animation, media, film and television, photography, graphic communication, writing, journalism, advertising, public relations and book publishing.

Former Head of Applied Communication, Ms Lauren Murray, has been appointed Acting Dean of Media and Communication, and will oversee interim governance and management of the new school, including development of discipline leadership, practice based research and research teams and capital works projects.
