Co-operative Education (Work Integrated Learning)

Welcome to the School of Accounting and Law’s Co-operative Education web page. We hope that the information you find here helps to answer your questions about Co-op.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is the term given to an activity or program that integrates learning with its application in the workplace.

All students* enrolled in the Bachelor of Business undertake a three and a half or four year degree program comprising 2 years of full time study, a twelve month program-related full-time employment (WIL), and a final year of study. The third year WIL activity "sandwiched" between periods of study is called Co-operative Education.

(* For further information go to eligibility.)

Work Integrated Learning has been a part of the Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) degree since 1972. The School co-ordinates the Co-op placements of over 120 students each year.

The type of employers typically participating in the Co-op program include:

  • Chartered accounting firms (top tier, second tier and smaller firms).
  • CPA firms.
  • Commerce and Industry.
