SBIT Set to Bolster Alumni Groups

The School is taking steps to strengthen its connections to its graduates. Over the coming months, we want to create effective electronic contacts with as many alumni as possible.

We have just created a Business Information Technology special interest group in the RMIT Alumni Site. See https://www.alumni.rmit.edu.au/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=295&srcid=291 SBIT graduates who are registered with RMIT will shortly be advised of the interest group's creation by email.

If you are not registered as an alumnus we suggest you do so. Go to https://www.alumni.rmit.edu.au/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=191&srcid=191.

In addition, if you are a MBIT graduate you can join our relevant Facebook group. See MBIT Alumni Melbourne RMIT University

Likewise, if you are a BB BIS graduate you can register in our associated group BB(BIS) Alumni Melbourne RMIT University which is found at http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=26855511714

Our first aim is to build as many effective electronic links as possible over the coming month. We also have plans for some electronic activities for alumni living in other places.

For our Melbourne based alumni we plan to launch some activities before the end of 2008.

Why bother to go to the trouble of building an active alumni network? Well it provides you the opportunity to create a stronger professional network as well as keeping track of former classmates.

From the School's view point an active alumni group offers potential in several directions. An active alumni network has the potential to offer better work integrated learning opportunities for existing students. The School needs a forum in which to disseminate its research and professional development activities. Such a forum offers potential to improve evidence-based practice. More effective connection to practitioners ensures that the SBIT educational offerings are relevant. In summary, we are looking to create mutual benefit.

Web 2.0 technology offers us potential to easily keep track of people as well as delivering services. We aim to use these to bolster alumni relations.

We invite you to join our alumni ventures.
