A Winery E-Business Practice Model: A Study Of Internet Adoption By Victorian SME Wineries

This study examined the use of the Internet and e-business in Victorian wineries in order to identify the adopters (innovators and early adopters) and non-adopters (laggards or resistors) on the basis of Rogers' Diffusion Theory paradigm. Barriers to the use of e-business will be determined to identify the areas that the industry needs to address so as to facilitate an increased rate of uptake of this process. The benefits from the successful use of e-business will also be identified based on Rogers' early adopters allowing a model to be developed indicative of the most effective use of e-business within the industry. Industry data analysis (quantitative) will be undertaken and gathered by analysing wine industry directories and by surveys of all participants. The case study was the tool used to collect qualitative data.

The study was significant in that an e-business model within the industry has not been developed, although wineries are already utilising the Internet as part of their normal business practice.
