It is a requirement of the Graduate School of Business that all assessment tasks must be attempted and submitted. Submitted assessments must demonstrate fulfilment of assessment task requirements as indicated in the Course Guide and the Courseware. Failure to reach a satisfactory post graduate standard in completing assessment tasks will result in a fail grading.
It is a requirement of the Graduate School of Business that to pass a Course, a student must achieve an overall aggregate average of not less than 50%, with a minimum mark of 45% in any individual item of assessment specified in the Course Guide Part B. Where a student fails an item of assessment by not meeting this 45% requirement, the Course Coordinator will review the student’s overall work.
Alternative assessment tasks will not generally be available; however circumstances involving health, family trauma or abnormal work requirements may prevent students completing an item of assessment. Students must advise the Course Facilitator/Lecturer or Course Coordinator at the earliest opportunity, preferably in writing, of any difficulty in fulfilling an assessment task as designated before its submission date. Students should read the RMIT University advice on Special Consideration (RMIT Policy 7.32.1.3)
Where a student fails an item of assessment, a discussion with the Course Facilitator, and where deemed necessary the Course Coordinator &/or the MBA Program Director, will take place to assist the student at risk to achieve an improved level of performance in any remaining assessment tasks.
Students who are at risk of failing courses, which they cannot repeat presently or have come to the end of their study visa and still have courses to complete are to be referred to the Academic Director by the Course Coordinator.
Where a student has failed a Course either through not achieving an aggregate mark of 50% of available marks for the Course or failing a major item of assessment below 45% of available marks for the assessment regardless of the aggregate mark, students will be required to repeat the RMIT MBA Course, or an approved alternative Course which substantially meets the learning requirements of the RMIT MBA Course.
Following a failure in a Course, a failing student will undertake a performance review by the Course Facilitator, Course Coordinator and MBA Program Director to assess the most suitable options to achieve student progression towards a completion, or alternatively, exit from the MBA Program.
