RMIT Spiritual Centre
In a world where it is easy to live on automatic pilot and where so many of us are dealing with unhelpful patterns of habit, compulsion and addiction - whether to ideas, substances, relationships or realities - how can we be real and free? In a world where there are too many mass-produced maps, how do we find our own path?
There have been models and mentors from various paths, faiths, religions, and wisdom traditions over time and place. These point to another way: a common approach that is found through the practice of meditation and contemplative practice in the midst of a supportive and accepting community.
We aim to be a diverse group with various vocabularies, including stories from Buddhism, Sufism, or mystical Christianity, 12 Step or Depth Psychology. But what we do together is more important than what we say. We're not out to convert anyone to anything, except to an increased taste and capacity for a unique freedom and purpose, in a world where that is often not easy to find.
We practise once a week, usually sitting in silence in two sessions of about fifteen minutes each time. Afterwards - if you like - we can share something of this journey. There are also opportunities to discuss meditative practice and how life is going on a one to one basis as well. The meetings are free of charge and you are welcome to attend whenever you wish.
