You will also develop your understandings of how various types of building services equipment work and how they are integrated into a building. Topics covered include: heating and cooling, lighting, energy supply, on-site power generation, water supply and waste systems, fire safety, vertical transportation and building services for high-performance buildings. Energy efficiency is a recurring theme throughout the course.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems. All necessary resources for the course will be provided in class or online through Canvas or the library.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment consists of:
Quiz 1 – Mechanical services. 10% weighting. Individual. (CLO 1-6)
Quiz 2 – Hydraulic services. 10% weighting. Individual. (CLO 1-6)
Quiz 3 – Electrical & Fire services. 15% weighting. Individual. (CLO 1-6)
Major assignment. 25% weighting. Group work. (CLO 1-6)
