Course Description
In this course you will explore the role of editing in written communication and analyse its importance. Through a range of focused in-class exercises and take-home assignments, you will develop the skills and practices required of the professional copyeditor and proofreader.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the theoretical and practical role of editing in the collation and curation of content.
- Describe and evaluate the role and application of grammar and punctuation in written communication.
- Apply knowledge, principles and skills in editing and proofreading to a diverse range of texts.
- Investigate the dynamic between culture and commerce inherent in the industry.

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
- Develop broad industry-based knowledge and skills for application across the local and global publishing industry.
- Employ appropriate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to solve problems associated with book publishing.

Overview of Learning Activities
The course will take a blended approach to its delivery with learning activities that involve a range of activities, including lectures, tutorials, group discussion and activities, peer review and individual research. All sessions are face to face.
