Course Description

This course examines a series of foundational applied microeconomics topics, centred about classic works in the field, and then extending these to contemporary analysis and debates. The course concentrates around the ‘old Chicago school’ approach (Stigler-Demsetz-Becker et al), but with some modern themes too. The course will concentrate on topics associated with market processes in different applied domains. We will examine the microeconomic logic, and then consider what this implies in practice as well as for policy debates.
