Course Description

This course provides you with an opportunity to acquire detailed knowledge and skills in finishing processes for wool, cellulosic and synthetic products.

You will undertake project work, using laboratory testing technology, comprises designing finishing process paths for a range of wool, cellulosic and synthetic fibres and fabrics and evaluating handle, appearance and performance to achieve customer and quality requirements.

In Dyeing Technologies, you will focus on acquiring a detailed knowledge base about the structure and properties of cellulosic wool and synthetic fibres. The preparatory requirements for dyeing, the theory of dyeing, major classes of dyes and considerations in the selection of these dyes. The application of this knowledge requires that participants dye in laboratory conditions a variety of products (cellulosic, wool and/or synthetics) to meet customer requirements.

Dye house laboratory techniques are integrated into all stages of this course.
