Course Description

Understanding of the Extreme Right is generally guided by narrow, moralistic stereotypes projected by the media. This course aims at a dispassionate, in-depth investigation of the Extreme Right that examines the complexities of ideas, the social groups represented, the cultural meaning of participation, and the psychology of members and supporters. The principal focus is the Extreme Right as an expression of western, liberal capitalist society. The course emphasises interpretation, concentrating upon original documents in an endeavour to identify the assumptions and values that undergird the ideas and practices of different groups on the Extreme Right.
