Course Description

You will develop mathematical skills and techniques required for quality control, survey analysis, fibre morphology, fibre science and textile technology.

Your studies will include: basic calculations, approximation, significant figures and accuracy, units and conversions as used in textiles.

 

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

1. Apply analytical decision making techniques in a fashion and textiles environment.

 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

a) Research and identify computation factors to be considered when analysing fibres, yarns and fabrics.

b) Contruct graphs and graphical representation of functions using linear & logarithmic scales.

c) Develop and analyse namograms, normal and t-distrubution, survey analysis, correlation co efficients, interval estimation and hypothesis testing in relation to textile technology.

In this course you will learn via a combination of lectures and tutorials (to provide an understanding of the theoretical principles and concepts) and practical / laboratory classes.
