Course Description
This course will build upon your existing knowledge and skills in Radiation Therapy and introduce you to more advanced techniques. You will continue to develop your understanding of a broader range and more complex oncological techniques and develop your awareness of professional practice and teamwork.

On successful completion of this course you should be able to:
- Describe and explain the principles and practices of radiation therapy clinical management as they relate to a range of sites and patient cases
- Identify the side effects and psychosocial considerations of treatment for different treatment sites and describe and explain the management of these.
- Utilise computer planning software to perform routine radiation therapy planning techniques.
- Evaluate and analyse resultant treatment plans produced with regard to a range of literature.
- Apply critical thinking and appraisal skills to a wide range of current literature.
- Select appropriate methods of enquiry to gather and effectively utilise peer reviewed literature to support a logical argument in an academic piece of writing.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will learn through a variety of activities that will include lectures and tutorials, and computer-based treatment planning system.
This course is supported by the Learning Management System (LMS), where the teaching schedule, lecture and lab resources and other relevant material to encourage self-directed learning, will be available.
You will participate in a range of teacher directed learning activities including lectures, tutorial and laboratory classes which will comprise 60 hours. You are also expected to undertake an equivalent 60 hours of independent learning per semester.

You will have access to treatment planning software.
