Course Description
This course deals with complex and often complicated issues and problems, where the effects of policy interventions are difficult to predict. This course assists you to develop analytical and problem-solving skills required to develop sustainable policy solutions.
You will examine the use of strategic thinking and futures planning in a range of government and non-government organization case studies and develop your capacity and confidence for strategic thinking and futures planning.

- Confidently apply strategic thinking to policy issues and projects

- Effectively prepare and present strategic planning proposals and submissions
Overview of Learning Activities
Workshops will use current examples of strategic thinking and futures planning from government and non-government organisation policy contexts. You will have the opportunity to actively engage and develop your strategic thinking and problem solving skills through workshop activities which explore case studies, readings, and a diverse range of lecture and online course materials

You will use a range of texts as well as various class-based learning activities.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on the above learning outcomes. Assessment tasks may include essays, case studies, reports and presentations. You will be required to complete assessment tasks equivalent to 5,000 words.
