Course Description

This course further advances your understanding and use of the industry standard computer software used for design and presentation purposes. You will apply your skills in using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for the fashion merchandising environment.
 

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

6.Demonstrate critical thinking and innovation when identifying and responding to problems in diverse context within the fashion and textiles industry.

7.Work with others in a range of roles and context, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:

1. Use industry standard software- Adobe Creative Suite.

2. Produce fashion illustration demonstrating complex swatches, brushes and tonal work.

3. Produce industry standard materials for presentations.

4. Compile and export files, ready for printers.

Overview of Learning Activities

You will be engaged in learning activities that build the foundations to understanding and applying the operational use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as it is used in the fashion environment. The course consists of weekly tasks and an overarching assignment. Each week builds on the previous weeks knowledge and is supported by videos and textbook resources targeted to the course content.

Overview of Learning Resources

The RMIT Brunswick campus has computer facilities for you to use, consisting of the computer software and hardware required for this course. Printers and scanners are also available.

RMIT also has access to many databases that will support your activities during this course from video tutorials to high-quality images. These resources are available for you to download and view to enhance your understanding of the concepts covered in this course.

A list of recommended learning resources will be provided by your lecturer, including books, journal articles and web resources. You will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.

The University Library has extensive resources for Fashion and Textiles students. The Library has produced a number of subject guides that includes quality online and print resources for your studies Fashion and Textiles Library Guides.
