Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

Students attempting this course are expected to have first completed the Graduate Certificate in Career Education and Development.

Course Description

This course looks at the theory, recent developments and current practices in program delivery in career development. It enables you to think strategically about the processes and techniques integral to successful presentation and facilitation of career development programs in different settings such as education and the corporate sector.

During the course you are actively involved in developing knowledge and skills through the planning, delivery and review of a ’virtual’ career development program in either an education or commercial setting. The integration of applied virtual learning and academic learning will allow you to develop authentic solutions for the workplace and address issues commonly faced by career development practitioners, clients and other stakeholders as they become involved in career development programs.

It is not our intention to have you master delivery of a specific program or suite of programs. Instead our aim is for you to develop the knowledge and skills you need to effectively deliver any career development regardless of program content, client group and context. Having completed this course you are encouraged to make up your own mind about the exercise of program delivery skills in your career development practice and to clearly articulate your approach to clients, employers etc.

This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.
