NOTE: This is a WIL (Work Integrated Learning) course. Students need to ensure all WIL related approvals (via all necessary forms and other agreements) are undertaken prior to commencement of any WIL activity, regardless of whether any placement is arranged through the University or independently by the student. In the event of a proposed overseas placement, further university approvals are also required regarding student international mobility before commencing any placement or internship.

It is expected you have completed two semesters of your postgraduate program before enrolling in this course to provide an opportunity to develop a portfolio of relevant academic and project work to prepare you for your placement.
Course Description
In this course you will undertake a work-based placement or project activity involving an industry partner. The integration of work based learning and academic learning, commonly referred to as Work Integrated Learning (WIL), will allow you to solve authentic industry problems and address real issues faced in organisations. The course will also enable you to further understand ‘professionalism’ in an environment or planning setting. You will further reflect on the nature of professionalism and ethics in this course, and have opportunities to apply knowledge you have acquired in the work based setting. You will be able to develop and explore particular interests and skills in your placement, which will provide a basis for developing a professional network with colleagues and position you favourably for future employment opportunities.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify and model professional conduct in a range of workplace settings
- Apply academic and theoretical knowledge as well as technical skills to practical situations
- Critically reflect upon and analyse professional work practices
- Synthesise current developments and debates in the environment or planning professions
Overview of Learning Activities
You will be supported to develop a work plan, in conjunction with your workplace supervisor, that will enable you to develop, practice, monitor and evaluate your professional skills. Other activities include attending workshops and maintaining a reflective journal.

Assessment Tasks
1. Workplace Planning and Reporting Task (20% Linked to CLOs 1 and 3)
2. Reflection and Progress Reporting Task (40% Linked to CLOs 1, 2, and 3)
3. Professional Practice Analysis Task (40% Linked to CLOs 1, 3 and 4)
