Course Description

This course provides you with the key concepts and techniques of supply chain project management. It is based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge Framework, published by the Project Management Institute. Case study and practical examples are used to develop a better understanding of the concepts and theories in supply chain project management.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  1. Critically analyse and synthesise the Project Management Body of Knowledge formulated by the Project Management Institute.
  2. Apply the key concepts and techniques of project management to the formulation and execution of a project plan.
  3. Participate collaboratively and responsibly in teams, and reflect on your own teamwork, and on the team’s processes and ability to achieve outcomes.
  4. Apply as appropriate the professional skills, analytical, problem solving, and policy-making, leadership and ethical practices to manage organisational and technological changes.
  5. Professionally communicate to a range of audiences, demonstrating in depth knowledge of supply chain project management concepts and theories and of the needs of diverse project management stakeholders.


Overview of Learning Activities

A one-hour lecture and a two-hour workshop per week are designed in this course during the semester. The lecture is used to introduce students the fundamental concepts and theories in supply chain project management. The workshop is designed to help students understand the supply chain project management practice in the real world setting through case analysis, simulation study and group discussion.
