Course Description
In this course you will consolidate your digital presentation skills, and use your knowledge to produce plans, elevations, details sections and schedules. By applying enhanced hand and digital skills to methodologies for production of documentation and specification you will be able to select appropriate presentation and software choices for particular outcomes. You will continue to develop your drawing and rendering skills and apply it to a client brief.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program outcomes:
- Communicate your ideas and designs through a broad range of technology and presentation techniques to a range of stakeholders including clients and relevant industry practitioners.
- Create design solutions to meet the needs of the client and address all industry conventions in both manual and digital formats in response to a design brief.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Plan, execute and deliver a project using appropriate presentation techniques within the allocated timeframe.
- Use digital technologies to produce a range of presentations such as floor plans, 2D elevations, joinery detailed drawings, schedules of finishes and furniture libraries.
- Prepare accurate and scaled drawings for printing in appropriate mediums to the specified format
Overview of Learning Activities
Learning activities will include supervised project work, independent investigation, computer labs, site visits, demonstrations, audio visual presentations, online learning (blogs and wiki), studio work and guest presenter demonstrations.
Overview of Learning Resources
- RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems.
Audio visual presentations, library references, architectural and interior design websites, interface and activity via myRMIT learning and support material, including relevant Australian Standards.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment may include a range of activities such as in-class exercises, portfolio, digital and drawn models, presentations and individual / group projects.
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this course are graded.
Assessment Task 1 Workshop - Portfolio (20%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Plan, execute and deliver a project using appropriate presentation techniques within the allocated timeframe.
- Prepare accurate and scaled drawings for printing in appropriate mediums to the specified format
Assessment Task 1 Digital - Document Package 1 (25%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Use digital technologies to produce a range of presentations such as floor plans, 2D elevations, joinery detailed drawings, schedules of finishes and furniture libraries.
- Prepare accurate and scaled drawings for printing in appropriate mediums to the specified format
Assessment Task 2 Digital - Documentation (25%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Use digital technologies to produce a range of presentations such as floor plans, 2D elevations, joinery detailed drawings, schedules of finishes and furniture libraries.
- Prepare accurate and scaled drawings for printing in appropriate mediums to the specified format
Assessment Task 2 Workshop - Presentation Boards (30%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Plan, execute and deliver a project using appropriate presentation techniques within the allocated timeframe.
- Prepare accurate and scaled drawings for printing in appropriate mediums to the specified format
