  • Demonstrate technical and creative skills, critical thinking when identifying and solving problems in diverse contexts for textile, fashion and other design contexts.
  • Examine, evaluate and apply technologies associated with textile design and manufacturing in both local and global contexts

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Conduct market and theme based research to inform your design practice
  • Employ traditional media (drawing, mark-making, colour mixing) skills for textile outcomes
  • Create market appropriate illustrations and communication boards using traditional media and digital textile design skills
  • Create textile fabrics (printed or constructed) to meet requirements of a specific brief
  • Evaluate and select appropriate yarns, substrates and associated constructed / surface based techniques for textile based outcomes

Overview of Learning Activities

Key concepts and their application will be explained and illustrated in lectures / demonstrations, class based activities or online notes / tutorials.  There will be opportunities to discuss the brief and requirements during individual and group tutorials.
