Course Description

This course is one of a series of method courses designed to develop your knowledge and skills to teach in specialist disciplines in secondary school settings. In this course, you will learn, practice and then be assessed on your capacity to: Design an overview of a unit in your discipline that demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of the concepts, substance and structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area. This will include an effective sequence of lessons that demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and application of literacy, numeracy and ICT to your discipline. You will design a series of assessment tasks that demonstrate your knowledge of assessment strategies (including diagnostic, formative and summative approaches). You will seek feedback from your peers to evaluate the design of the unit and assessment strategies.
