Course Description

This course is one of a sequence of professional experience courses designed to develop teaching practice in a work-integrated learning context. The focus of this course is the social, technological and cultural influences on children and how these might shape learning and teaching. You will develop awareness of your own and learners’ cultures, personal values and beliefs about cultural diversity and how these might impact on teaching practice. You will examine the characteristics of effective learning environments (safe, supportive, inclusive, engaging and challenging) and apply these to different educational settings.

This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
