Course Description
In this capstone course you will be given the opportunity to synthesise all the things you have learnt in this program through a project-based piece of individual research. You will be expected to demonstrate that you have mastered the appropriate theories and skills of your chosen area of career development – urban or regional planning, environmental policy making, environment management or environmental planning – through a project. Throughout the course, you will reflect on your knowledge and technical skills, in order to develop your insights as a future professional in a chosen field.
This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.

Program Learning Outcomes
In course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
- Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on recent trends and scholarly analysis of the effects and consequences of urbanisation internationally, including the interplay of ecological, economic, political, social and cultural factors.
- Continually extend and challenge your knowledge and professional practice in urban and environmental management.
- Provide professional leadership by demonstrating environmental stewardship, cultural and social sensitivity, and ethical and reflective practice.

- Design, conduct and present the research findings of an independent piece of project work.
- Review and critically analyse project work performed in your selected field of professional interest of relevance to environmental management and urban planning.

- Demonstrate the use of appropriate analytical and practical approaches to solving urban and environmental problems.
