Course Description
In this course you will build on the knowledge you acquired in Advanced Mathematics 1 and you will gain the mathematical skills required for further tertiary-level study in the fields of engineering, applied science and computing. It is a skill-based course. You will develop an understanding of integral calculus, differential equations, numerical methods and complex numbers, which will provide you with a firm foundation in analysis, problem solving and the use of technology.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Perform a range of mathematical routines and procedures in relation to integral calculus and techniques of integration.
- Solve first order and simple second order differential equations.
- Employ numerical methods to find approximate solutions of definite integrals and differential equations.
- Represent complex numbers in both polar and rectangular forms and use these to carry out operations and solve problems over the complex number system.
- Apply mathematical techniques to solve application-style problems.

Overview of Learning Activities
This course includes a combination of lectures and tutorials as well as an equivalent amount of time spent in self-study completing exercises and additional tasks outside of scheduled classes.
You are expected to actively participate in all learning activities including note taking during scheduled classes, discussion, answering questions both verbally and in writing, solving both class exercise questions and revision tasks.

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment will include:
- Task 1: Quizzes, 30%, CLO 1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4
- Task 2: Application Task, 35%, CLO 5
- Task 3: Examination, 35%, CLO 1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4
