Course Description

This course is an elective for students who wish to participate in Work Integrated Learning Internship with an organisation.  Under this elective, you are expected to work a minimum of 480 hours in total. This is equivariant to 40 hours per week for a 12 weeks period.  Under the Fair Work Commission guidelines, the maximum any student may work without pay is 240 hours. Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

 During the placement period, students will complete graded assessments that meet the following course learning objectives: 

  • CLO1: Meeting the generically accepted work requirements of punctuality, appropriate and respectful internal and external communications, good work ethic, and visible effort.
  • CLO2: Meeting the expectations and objectives of their position and demonstrate the quality of work outcomes.
  • CLO3: Integrate and apply RMIT studies to current business practice, through guided experiential learning in a business context, under supervision and/or support.
  • CLO4: Demonstrate the capacity to work individually and collaboratively in/for a business or organisation.
  • CLO5: Undertake reflective praxis in reviewing the value of the work-based project or placement.
  • CLO6: Showcase and communicate your enhanced employability skills.


Overview of Learning Activities

You will be actively engaged in practical based learning in or for an employer/organisation.  Key learnings, guidance and instruction will be facilitated by a supervisor from the employer/organisation.  It is expected that you should leverage from the experiences and make the most of the internship opportunity.  You can expect to receive feedback and learning information from your supervisor.
