Course Description

In this course you will explore contemporary visual design development and the use of technology in digital communication.

 

You will develop an independent and self-directed approach while investigating the development of an online presence that aims to reflect your personal aesthetic as well as your brand identity.

 

You will develop a graphic documentation of your creative practice in the format of a print magazine, which effectively demonstrates your creative practice using digital media and other technologies.

 


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program learning capabilities:

 

  • Apply logical and critical thinking in resolving a range of applied design and technology issues in a fashion context.
  • Conceptualise, integrate and organise information in order to resolve complex issues related to fashion product development, design and technology.


Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

 

  1. Apply digital design technology to produce visual outputs that effectively communicate your creative aesthetic.
  2. Analyse standard and dedicated software programs and integrate their use in a fashion context.
  3. Resolve complex digital and visual communication issues in relation to a digital portfolio.
  4. Investigate and develop a professional online presence.


Overview of Learning Activities

You will produce an individual visual portfolio that promotes their skills, their personal brand and design aesthetic, career aspirations and market readiness. The portfolio might utilise multimedia.

Classes will be conducted in an online and blended environment that may include computer lab workshops, and may include at various times a guest lecture.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. You will be assessed on your ability to communicate your ideas through design research and self initiated, learner-directed investigation.

Assessment may include:

Task 1: (20%) Research & Brand story.

Task 3: (50%) Brand Activation: Final Website, Look-Book & Application.
