Course Description

This course focuses on the role of languages and cultures in learning. Language acquisition research will be studied to inform teaching pedagogy that supports linguistic diversity and promotes the value of languages as resources in classrooms. The context of multicultural classrooms will be explored with cross cultural understandings and intercultural capabilities informing teaching practice. Throughout this course, you will develop skills, strategies and resources to support linguistic and cultural diversity within primary school classroom contexts.

Your learning in this course will involve a range of activities including online lectures, workshops, practical activities, individual tasks, collaborative group work, discussion and individual reflection.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of your learning. You will be able to develop your work in relation to your own specific areas of interest in your professional practice.
