Course Description

This course will introduce you to rhythmic and expressive movement in Health, Physical Education and Sport. You will develop expert content knowledge and an understanding of the basis of creative movement and where this fits within both the Victorian Curriculum and a school setting. The focus areas of dance and gymnastics will be used a cornerstone of this course. The course will be taught using a range of teaching styles.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Program Learning Outcomes 

For those of you in BP319 (Bachelor of Health, Physical Education and Sport (Secondary), this course will help you develop the program level outcomes:  

  • Demonstrate broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge in practical applications in Health, Physical Education and Sport
  • Consolidate and synthesise expert content and pedagogical content knowledge and apply evidence-based high-impact teaching strategies in professional practice
  • Analyse and evaluate student-centred learning approaches to plan effectively for differentiation in health, physical education and sport 

 

For those of you in BP320PPE (Bachelor of Education (Primary and Physical Education/Sport), this course will help you develop the program level outcomes:  

  • Demonstrate broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge in education
  • Critically analyse and apply theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to your professional practice in curriculum, pedagogy and assessment across a range of disciplines, reflecting a graduate level of proficiency in teaching
  • Consolidate and synthesise expert content and pedagogical content knowledge and develop highly effective classroom teaching skills in an area of specialisation
  • Apply initiative, judgement, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills and the capacity to work responsibly, ethically and inclusively in individual and collaborative professional contexts to enhance your practice
  • Communicate effectively with different stakeholders in the education field through a broad range of communication modes and digital technologies in diverse educational contexts.
