Required Prior Study

You should have satisfactorily completed BUSM4789/BUSM4790/BUSM2657 Introduction to Fashion Enterprise or MKTG1442/MKTG1443/MKTG1503 Introduction to Fashion Retailing or MKTG1446/MKTG1447/MKTG1504 Introduction to Fashion Marketing before you commence this course. 

Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.

Course Description

This course allows you to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you have accumulated in all courses you have undertaken previously or are studying concurrently. It is substantive, self-directed work that can take the form of an investigative project that addresses a complex issue or problem of your own choice, or a report that relates directly to an industry internship that you undertake within a fashion enterprise. Feedback from the sponsoring organisation will be integral to your experience and is expected to form part of your final report.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Program Learning Outcomes 

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

PLO1: Critically review, analyse and evaluate theory and industry knowledge relevant for fashion enterprise in the global fashion business environment.

PLO2: Apply a range of creative and commercial skills to successfully practice in a range of roles in the field of fashion enterprise.

PLO3: Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation to identify and solve problems in diverse contexts within the field of fashion enterprise.

PLO4: Communicate using a range of formats and strategies to diverse audiences within and external to the fashion enterprise field.

PLO5: Work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness through ethical and reflective practice.

PLO6: Take initiative and apply judgment in planning, problem solving and decision making in your practice or future study.


Course Learning Outcomes 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO 1: Plan and execute an original investigative project addressing a complex fashion business problem.

CLO 2: Synthesise multiple areas of fashion business theoretical knowledge, skills and acumen gained throughout the program

CLO 3: Demonstrate an holistic perspective and intricate knowledge of issues and events that are instrumental in changing and shaping fashion business practice.

CLO 4: Demonstrate a high level of personal autonomy and accountability that precipitates in a reflective approach to generating valuable research outcomes and ethical business solutions.

CLO 5: Identify, describe and reflect on your experiences individually and in collaboration with colleagues in terms of personal growth and development.


Overview of Learning Activities

Your learning will be facilitated via a range of in-class activities that will require both individual and collaborative engagement. Class activities promote your ability to enquire, investigate, analyse and solve fashion business problems.

A list of recommended learning resources will be provided by your lecturer, including books, journal articles and web resources. You will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.

 

Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks. Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome.  They are as follows:

 

Assessment Task 1: Project Report  (50%)
CLO’s: 1, 2, 3 & 4 

Assessment Task 2: Portfolio, Reflection and Presentation (50%)
CLO’s: 3 & 5
