Course Description

This course introduces you to a range of digital prototyping approaches within the fashion and textiles context. You will gain an understanding of various design and fabrication tools for exploring iterative prototyping methods to develop and communicate wearable concepts. You will also critically reflect on and evaluate the benefits and shortcomings of digital prototyping processes, as well as the relationship between digital representation and material quality.

As this is a program option course, only Course Learning Outcomes are applicable.


Course Learning outcomes 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO 1: Research and investigate the design precedents and digital fabrication methods within the fashion and textile context.

CLO 2: Utilise iterative design strategies for the development, communication and realisation of wearable concepts.

CLO 3: Critically reflect through your process of digital prototyping and the process of making for fashion and textiles.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.

Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome.  They are as follows:

Assessment Task 1:  Digital Development Folio  (50%)
CLO: 1 & 2

Assessment Task 2: Self Directed Wearable Folio (50%)
CLO: 1, 2 & 3
