Course Description
In this course, you will undertake a project where you will apply your knowledge and skills in sustainable innovation. Projects are aligned to an industry, community/social enterprise, and/or collaboration across disciplines (e.g. sport, health, industrial design, fashion, textiles, engineering, etc.).
This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a simulated workplace context, and where feedback from industry partners and/or community is integral to your learning.

Program Learning Outcomes
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
PLO1: Demonstrate and apply a diverse and industry-relevant body of skills and knowledge in sustainable innovation for the fashion and textiles industry, related fields and emerging markets.
PLO2: Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on sustainable innovation in both local and international contexts.
PLO3: Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation when identifying and solving problems in diverse contexts within the field of fashion and textiles sustainable innovation.
PLO4: Communicate using diverse formats and strategies with audiences within and external to your discipline.
PLO5: Work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness and ethical and reflective practice.
PLO6: Apply initiative and judgment in planning, problem solving and decision making in your practice or future study.
Course Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO 1: Apply a range of knowledge and skills to successfully respond to a brief posed by an external industry partner.
CLO 2: Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation to identify and solve problems in relation to a brief posed by an external industry partner.
CLO 3: Communicate professionally using a range of formats and strategies to diverse audiences within and external to the Fashion and Textile Industry.
CLO 4: Work with others demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness through ethical and reflective practice.
CLO 5: Take initiative and apply judgment in planning, problem solving and decision making in your practice.
Overview of Learning Activities
Your learning will be facilitated via a range of in-class and online activities that will require both individual and collaborative engagement. Class activities will promote your ability to propose, investigate, plan, analyse, and realise sustainable innovative fashion and textiles solutions.

A list of recommended learning resources will be provided by your lecturer, including books, journal articles and web resources. You will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.

The library also provides guides on academic referencing and assistance is available via phone, chat and email.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and your development against the program learning outcomes. Your work integrated learning component will be assessed in a simulated workplace context where you will engage with, and receive feedback from industry partners.
Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome.
Assessment Tasks:
Assessment Task 1: Project Plan (20%), CLO: 1, 2 & 5
Assessment Task 2: Project Pitch (30%), CLO: 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
Assessment Task 3: Project (50%), CLO: 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
