Course Description

This course focuses on key theoretical and practical approaches to business ethics with a focus on financial planning and advisory services. This course will develop your understanding of a profession and its members’ ethical responsibilities at an individual and organisational level. This course highlights the importance of personal values underpinning ethical behaviour.

Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) code of Ethics are explained and analysed in detail and examined in Case scenarios.

On completion of this course you will be able to:

 

1. Collaborate and work in teams to research and provide advice on ethical issues faced by financial planners

2. Undertake research into ethical practice and theory in a business context

3. Identify and critically evaluate and analyse ethical problems based on ethical theories and research

4. Effectively communicate your well-reasoned ethical stance to key financial planning stakeholders

5. Critically evaluate and explain to professional and non-professional audiences the importance of ethics and professional judgement in financial planning.

6. Identify and critically evaluate the personal values required to make ethical decisions

Learning activities include: face to face workshops, use of online materials and resources, debates, case studies, applied research on current issues, guest speakers and completion of weekly work.
