Course Description
Implementing cybersecurity strategy is vital wherever devices are used in business- i.e. everywhere. Organisations need to evaluate and manage their vulnerabilities, attend to patching and updating in a consistent manner, educate employees on security measures and have a plan for responding to incidents. In this course, you will investigate and apply these processes to a particular business’ context and develop recommendations regarding the organisation’s current and potential future approaches to cybersecurity.
This course is a WIL project, incorporating the investigation of real problems that address the needs of industry or community. Industry partners are engaged in the project and provide feedback to students.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On successful completion of this course you should be able to:
- Identify factors leading to cyber vulnerability within an organisation.
- Evaluate the strength of cybersecurity procedures already in place in a business, and suggest improvements.
- Demonstrate analytical skills and creative thinking for problem solving within the given project context.
- Develop relevant strategies and a project action plan to implement solutions that are responsive to identified cybersecurity risks and hardening opportunities.
- Demonstrate collaborative project skills and deliver a persuasive presentation to articulate project findings.
Overview of Learning Activities
This course is delivered as a blend of face-to-face activities (such as: workshops, lectures and group or industry-based tasks) and online learning. Learning will be focused around the completion of a 12-week project, which will be supported through in-class and online activities. This may include: project development activities; guest speakers/expert commentators; prescribed readings; researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; producing artefacts; proposing solutions; seeking and providing peer feedback; and reflective praxis.
