Course Description

This course equips you with the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work in global and multicultural contexts.  Developing cross-cultural competencies and being able to collaborate effectively, while also recognising the strength that diversity brings to teams are key competencies in today's global workplace.  Similarly, the ability to develop relationships through virtual and physical networks, build and strengthen teams and address conflict in productive, and culturally sensitive, ways are keys to success in modern business contexts.

In this course, working individually and collaboratively, you will develop: intercultural competencies; effective collaboration skills; strategies for conflict management, networking and team-building.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of cross-cultural contexts in global business environments.
  2. Identify and apply strategies for communicating and working effectively in teams, including management of conflict through a culturally sensitive lens.
  3. Collaborate to solve challenges, recognising the strength in diverse perspectives and approaches.
  4. Apply a range of networking and team-building strategies to strengthen connections in virtual and physical environments.
  5. Reflect upon the development of your own cross-cultural competencies, and your ability to work effectively on collaborative tasks.


Overview of Learning Activities

This course is delivered as a blend of face-to-face activities and online learning. Learning will be supported through in-class and online activities such as: personal development activities; guest speakers/expert commentators; prescribed readings; practical tasks; seeking and providing peer feedback; and reflective praxis.
