Course Description

In today’s data-driven world, the success of businesses and policymakers is dependent on their ability to generate and interpret data. In this unit, you will be introduced to (i) survey-based and experimental methods to generate data and (ii) techniques to convert data into insights for good decision making. Conceptual issues related to data collection, design of survey instruments, statistical inference and data interpretation will be covered in detail to develop strong analytical skills required for evidence-based policy design and evaluation in business, public agencies and NGOs.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO1: Determine the information needed for efficient design of experiments or statistical surveys.

CLO2: Construct surveys and design experiments which are satisfactory for the intended purpose.

CLO3: Develop protocols for data collection and analysis.

CLO4: Apply basic statistical tools to convert data into insights to aid decision-making and evaluate policy interventions.

CLO5: Understand and use basic survey/experimental results in published material.
