Course Description

This course is designed to give you an understanding of the structure and function of the human body, specifically the Digestive, Renal, Endocrine, Haematopoietic/Immune, Integumentary and Reproductive systems. You will learn and apply the knowledge about how these systems maintain homeostasis. This course in conjunction with anatomy and physiology 1 will provide a foundation in anatomy and physiology for further studies in health and medical sciences.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: 

  1. Use medical language to describe human anatomy and physiology. 
  2. Describe the structure of major body systems including Digestive, Renal, Endocrine, Haematopoietic/Immune, Integumentary and Reproductive systems.  
  3. Explain how the structure of major body systems underpins their physiological function.   
  4. Articulate how the major systems interact with one another to regulate body functions and maintain homeostasis.

You will be actively engaged in a range of learning activities such as lectorials, tutorials, practicals, laboratories, seminars, project work, class discussion, individual and group activities. Delivery may be face to face, online or a mix of both.
