Course Description

In this course you will develop skills and knowledge required to develop and discuss ideas for creative work. You will participate in critical and informed discussion about creative work. You will reflect on your own and others creative practice.

This course is clustered (delivered and assessed in conjunction with) with CUVPA1301A Produce paintings.

People working across all areas of creative practice apply the skills and knowledge described in this course. The ability to research, generate and discuss ideas is an integral part of the creative process, and sits alongside the technical skills specific to particular art forms.

This work would usually be carried out under mentored supervision.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is on going throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through completion of a body of work that demonstrates concept development, understanding of materials and adhering to the guidelines of working in a studio. You will be required to submit a folio at the end of the course. Feedback will be provided throughout the course.
 

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit Evidence of the ability to:

  • generate ideas for creative work grounded in research and reflection
  • engage in informed discussion about ideas in own work
  • apply knowledge of historical and contemporary references in own area of creative work.
