Overview of Assessment

You must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency to be deemed competent.

A range of assessment methods are used to assess practical skills and knowledge.
Assessment in this course will involve the following activities

Task 1. Practical demonstration. You are required to respond to an emergency situation, apply appropriate first aid procedures, communicate details of the incident
This task relates to Elements 1, 2, & 3

Task 2. Report. You are required to communicate details of the incident, evaluate the incident and own performance
This task relates to Elements 3 & 4

Assessment Conditions
Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry-validated scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge.

Assessment resources must include:
• adult and infant resuscitation manikins in line with ARC Guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures
• adrenaline auto-injector training device
• AED training device
• placebo bronchodilator and spacer device
• roller bandages
• triangular bandages
• workplace First Aid kit
• workplace injury, trauma and/or illness record, or other appropriate workplace incident report form for written reports
