The Lathner Virtual School

The Lathner Primary Virtual School is a learning and teaching website. The site provides opportunities for education students and practitioners to dialogue with one another and contest outmoded practices. Lathner Primary is currently undergoing substantial educational change and you are invited to become a part of this vibrant school.

As you explore the virtual school website you will find it is full of surprises! There is no sitemap to assist you. Take time to navigate the site and make your own discoveries. The environment is dynamic so expect changes to occur as you navigate through.

As a pre-service teacher you are working in the Year 4/5F virtual classroom at Lathner Primary School alongside 20 students and a teacher/mentor, Anna Jones, who is trying to move her teaching towards New Times. Anna Jones and the other school staff invite you to take risks and challenge your teaching and students’ learning.

The Lathner Virtual Primary School website opens in a new browser window. The website is attached to the book Learning to Teach: New Times, New Practices from Oxford University Press. Visit the Oxford University Press website at http://www.oup.com.au/orc/latham to find out more about the book and how to secure a password for the website.

The Lathner Virtual Primary School site requires a password for entry. If you are part of the RMIT community, you can find out how to access the site (this is an RMIT staff and student only page). Please note: You need to be logged in to the RMIT website to access this page. There is also a course area on the Learning Hub for this virtual primary school: TCHE 2132 Extending Investigations in Literacies (accessible only to students enrolled in that course).
