How We Support the University

Design and Production Requests

The finite resources of the Educational Media Group are committed to the local and RMIT Vietnam teaching and learning needs of the university. The support provided by the group is free of charge. However, significant use of materials, external hiring or specialised requirements may need to be charged to the client.

In order to ensure its resources are employed for optimum gain, a process for the engagement of the Educational Media Group has been developed and agreed by academic portfolios.

All requests for design and production support must be made by completing an EMG Production Request Form. The form will be used to assign the appropriate staff to follow up the request and develop a detailed Project Brief. Any request for more than 10 hours of the group’s staff time, will need authorization by the relevant portfolio appointed authoriser:

Production Process for Design and Production

Once approval for a project has been received, a production process that is designed to optimise quality outcomes and efficiency commences. This involves the establishment of a production plan that includes key objectives, allocation of resources, assigned responsibilities and agreed milestones.

Commercial and Funded Projects

Occasionally, requests are made for the Educational Media Group to support commercial or funded T & L projects for academic departments or schools. These include off-shore contracts, Commonwealth or State funded projects or activities for the university’s commercial groups. Often these requests are resource intensive and require hundreds of staff hours. It is expected that these projects will have allocated appropriate budget for the services and support that would be provided by the Educational Media Group. Advice on costs associated with the provision of support by the Group should be negotiated prior to tender submissions or contractually binding agreements being made.

Further information or clarification regarding support for these projects can be obtained from the Manager, Educational Media Group amgad.louka@rmit.edu.au.

Copyright Management Services

The Copyright Management Service provides support for academic and teaching staff to improve copyright compliance of teaching and learning material.

The key support offered is the provision of advice and the seeking of permission for the use of copyright works in programs and courses.

The service specialises in offering information and permission seeking services for incorporating copyright works in online environments.
