Michel Bauwens - Founder of P2P Foundation
Michel Bauwens is founder of the P2P (Peer-to- Peer) Foundation, and works with a global group of researchers in the exploration of peer-production, governance and property. He has produced a three-hour documentary Technocalyps with colleague Frank Theys, is co-editor of a book Anthropology of Digital Society, Michael has worked as an academic as a Primavera Research fellow at the University of Amsterdam and external expert at the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences in Rome.
John Price - ASIC Commissioner
John Price has over 15 years regulatory experience in a variety of regulatory roles at ASIC relating to policy making, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, financial services and products, licensing, insolvency and financial reporting and audit. John is a current member of the Council of Financial Regulators, the coordinating body for Australia's main nancial regulatory agencies. He is also the sponsor of ASIC's innovation hub, an initiative to help innovative fintech startups offering financial products or financial services in Australia.
David Olsson - China Practice Consultant
David Olsson is a lawyer with extensive knowledge in Sino-foreign cross-border investments, China market-entry strategies, regional financial systems and financial market development. David is consistently recognised as a leading banking and capital market lawyer in China and Australia, as well as an expert in China’s financial markets. He is immediate past chairman of the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Australia China Business Council.
Professor Marian Simms - ARC Executive Director for Social, Behavioural and Economic Sciences
Since 2011, Professor Simms has worked for the Australian Research Council and was previously Head of School at the School of History, Heritage and Society at Deakin University. Her other appointments include Chair in Political Science at the University of Otago and Reader in Political Science at the Australian National University.
Dr Virginia Barbour - Executive Director Australasian Open Access Strategy Group
Dr Virginia Barbour has extensive knowledge of open access publishing. She previously started at PLOS (a Non-profit organisation committed to open access information) in 2004, and was one of three founding editor of PLOS Medicine and then went on to be the Medicine and Biology Editorial Director of PLOS in 2014. Dr Virginia is also Professor in the School of Medicine at Griffith University, Queensland and works part time in a joint appointment as professor in the Office of Ethics and Integrity and library at QUT.
Elliot Chapple - Marketing and Data Wizard, Pozible
Elliot has run a number of business initiatives around new media and film including the launch of Australia's biggest action sports film festival Yew.tv. In early 2015 Elliot joined the Pozible team as their dedicated project advisor, offering advice and support to creators at all stages of their campaigns.
Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele - Director of Social Marketing
Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele is Director of Social Marketing @ Griffith and Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Social Marketing. Sharyn’s research focuses on using marketing tools and techniques that might change behaviour for the better. She is currently working on projects that will impact on the environment, people’s health and for the greater good and has worked with an extensive number of government departments, and commission,
Emma Saleeba – Manager, Alcohol and tobacco, VicHealth
Emma has worked for six years directly in alcohol and tobacco policy in government and another ten in statutory agencies and the non-government sector in a range of public health roles. She holds a Masters in Public Health and her knowledge extends to health promotion policy, and program development, project implementation and advocacy.
Dr Shauna Sherker – Nat. Research Manager, Australia Drug Foundation
Dr Shauna Sherker has extensive experience in Public Health and Epidemiology. She is responsible for the provision of high quality evidence-informed research, evaluation and capacity-building expertise and support across the organisation. Her work supports the broader sector, people and communities and assists to prevent alcohol and other drug related harms in Australia.
Dr Ross Wilkinson - Executive Director, Australia National Data Service
As head of Australia’s National Data Service, Dr Ross Wilkinson is committed to the more effective use of Australia’s research data assets,. Ross completed his PhD at Monash University and went on to conduct research in computer science at La Trobe University, RMIT and CSIRO. He has published over 90 research papers and is a Council Member of the Research Data Alliance, an international initiative aimed at building the social and technical bridges that enable better sharing of data.
Lali Wiratunga, Westpac’s Davidson Institute & Social Sector Segment
Lali Wiratunga is the National Manager for Davidson Institute and Social Sector Segment at Westpac. He has over 18 years international experience, in financial and professional services, having had a number of corporate roles in the Westpac Group, and has worked a management consultant with Accenture and corporate lawyer in the United Kingdom. He has experience in Marketing, Strategy and Business Development, Digital Operations, Strategic Sourcing in the Financial Services sector and consulting in the Telecommunications sector. He is an advocate for the role of enterprise and entrepreneurship, and works to assist organisations to deliver social impact and be financially sustainable.
