The works shown in this exhibition are from the design studio projects produced in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years.
Design studio is the central core of the Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) and the students’ learning experience. Each studio presents an opportunity for students to engage in a design process involving research, experimentation, technical explorations and solutions, documentation, communication, presentation, and peer review.
Each design studio offers various themes and ideas concerning the notion of interior. Within a design studio, students and presented with design briefs that invite them to challenge assumptions and raises questions in regards to interior.
This exhibition shows a selection of creative outcomes produced in the studios that demonstrate diversities and trajectories of interior design practice: immersive conditions and specific situations, temporal and spatial relations, relationships between social and architectural spaces, learning environments, ideas of consumerism, and environmentalism, concepts of embodiment and image, diagramming, speculations on future living scenarios, ideas of sustainability and flexibility, light and surface and sensations of vision, sensory interior structures, materialism, exhibition spaces, spaces of display, movement, stillness, how to encounter, animate environments and spontaneous choreography, narratives, the experiential, and the phenomenological.
