This seminar will look at best practices and methodologies to mitigate the impact of natural hazards on transport system performance.
The MOWE-IT study is funded by the European Commission to compile best practices and to develop methodologies to assist transport operators, authorities and transport system users to mitigate the impact of natural hazards on transport system performance. Based on several workshops, expert consultations and literature work the project has created a series of guidebooks on adapting European road, rail, air, maritime and short sea traffic to climate change.
Presented by PTRI and the School of Business IT & Logistics, the presentation will go across selected guidebooks and elaborate the key best practices, policy issues and open research questions.
The second part will look at adaptation practices in Europe and Australia with a special focus on road transport networks and logistics. By doing so, the urgent need for exchanging local knowledge on vulnerabilities and successful adaptation will be addressed.
