Join us for this screening of Cannes Camera D'or winning film Leap Year followed by a Q&A session with director Michael Rowe.
Director Michael Rowe’s films have premiered at Venice and Rome Film Festivals. His film Leap Year won the 2010 Cannes Camera D'or (Top Prize for first-time director of a feature film) and was part of the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) and many other film festivals around the world.
The film is a gripping Mexican psychodrama that that takes place in February on a leap year, and unfolds almost entirely in a seedy one-room apartment that becomes a metaphor for occupant Laura's state of mind. Laura meets Arturo one night and the pair enter into an intense, violent relationship. The story focuses on the evolution of their relationship, and as time goes by Laura crosses out the days on a calendar as she reveals her secret past to her lover.
