This is a three part event that will discuss how design research can create impact, explore pathways for effective research translation and examine ways to assess the quality of design research.
- 9.00 am-10.30 am: Deep impact – how design reseach creates impact
Case studies on design research at RMIT that have demonstrated impact or are poised to do so, with sharing of learnings on research design, translation pathways, stakeholder engagement, collaboration, communication and impact evaluation
- 11.00 am-12.30 pm: Lost (and found) in translation – finding effective pathways for translating design research into practice
A panel discussion on what it takes to successfully translate research in a global research ecosystem that increasingly focuses on generating impact from research above and beyond academia. This event will examine how well RMIT is doing in research translation and identify effective pathways to create impact from design research
- 1.15 pm-2.30 pm: From good to great – workshop on frameworks for assessing quality and excellence of design research
With RMIT’s focus on research impact, this workshop examines practical approaches to evaluating both research excellence and impact. An interactive workshop to capture participant input will follow context setting by DVC R&I Prof Calum Drummond and updates on three University projects on performance frameworks and metrics.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
