Welcome to the first edition of the Globalism Research Centre Bulletin for 2010.
Beginning in July, the Globalism Research Centre will run its Global Studies Seminar Series, a program of free public seminars exploring key thinking in the field of global studies. Our aim is to provide an intellectually challenging but accessible and collegial environment for discussion and debate around central themes in globalization. More details on the series will follow in the April edition and on our website.
Throughout the year, the Bulletin will provide all the details of Globalism Research Centre news and events, as well as other events of interest in Melbourne, elsewhere in Australia and overseas.
If you would like to add your event to the Bulletin or join the mailing list please email globalism@rmit.edu.au

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre proudly presents the dramatic production, Journey of Asylum—Waiting.
The performance weaves the lived experiences of asylum seekers, now residing in Melbourne, into a dynamic and poetic performance. Asylum seekers share their struggles, uncertainties and realizations as people ‘waiting’ in the immigration process. Experiences of fear, sleeplessness and isolation mix with dignity, resilience and humour and the hope for a ‘normal life’. Freedom of speech and self expression are our democratic rights; for most asylum seekers this is simply a dream they hope will come true.
Performance dates:
Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 March at 8pm
Saturday 20 March at 3pm (matinee) & 8pm
Victorian Trades Hall Council Bella Union Theatre, corner Lygon & Victoria Streets, Carlton South
Tickets ($40 full & $30 concession) must be prebooked online.
For more information please call Heidi Abdel-Raouf on 0416 321 496.
