The Associate Degree in Screen and Media Production program will equip you with the broad knowledge and skills you need to maximise your opportunity to follow a career within mainstream industry or within a specialised niche businesses. You will prepare to undertake production projects, assist others in productions, and work as part of a production team.
On successful completion of the program, you will have gained the essential knowledge and skills to enable you to work as a paraprofessional in a creative, freelance or in-house capacity within the film, television or online media industry, or in a production or organization role within the corporate, educational, cultural, government or non-government organisation sectors where practical media skills and knowledge are required.
As a graduate of this program, you will be able to apply your knowledge and skills across varied genres and formats of screen-based media production, bringing flexibility, initiative and creative problem-solving to your work. You will be capable of working within a changing and challenging environment, with awareness of emerging production trends, practical skills in relevant technologies, experience of diverse and collaborative projects, and an ability to gather information on audience and market expectations and trends.

C5412 Diploma of Screen and Media (Content Creation) with 96 credit points of exemptions (equivalent to 1 year full-time study)
Further Studies:
Successful completion of this program guarantees entry into BP221 Bachelor of Communication (Media) with 144 credit points of exemptions (equivalent to 1.5 years full-time study).
Successful completion of this program guarantees entry into the video and sound studio of BP201 Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) with 96 credit points of exemptions (equivalent to 1 year full-time study).
If you have already developed areas of skill and knowledge included in this program (for example, through prior studies or work experience), you can apply for credit once you have enrolled in this program.

You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school) qualification.

Prerequisites
Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in English other than EAL.
Selection task
All applicants must complete and submit the selection task.

In Australia there are no professional bodies that recognise or accredit programs in Screen and Media. This program has been developed in consultation with the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) whos' membership represents a cross-section of screen production industry workers and employers. The teachers in the program are all practitioners with current knowledge of trends and work practices. This program has strong industry support and links with a wide range of organisations and associations including; Screen Producers Australia (SPA) The Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA), VicScreen, The Victoria Police Film and Television Office, and the Australian Copyright Council.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
