Purpose of the Program

The Graduate Certificate in Information Management is a stand-alone award that offers a pathway for further learning leading to the Master of Information Management, or can be an early exit point for those enrolled in the Master of Information Management.  The program aims to broaden knowledge and skills for students entering with a qualification in an unrelated discipline, while students from a related discipline will deepen their existing knowledge and skills.

The Graduate Certificate in Information Management delivers a qualification which prepares you for work in the information sector, at a non-accredited level. A rapidly changing work environment requires graduates who are critical, creative, resilient and able to design solutions for information management problems and situations for a diverse range of organizations. This program provides you with base-level skills in delivering the right information to the right people at the right time.

Over the duration of the program you will experience a range of learning experiences including lectures, tutorials, workshops and work integrated learning. The application of theory-based learning to discipline-based professional work is learned through projects, real world case studies, guest speakers, and seminars.

You will be qualified to undertake non-professional positions in the information management sectors. These include librarian positions in public, tertiary special, government and school libraries.

The program is delivered wholly on-campus or online or mixed mode.
