The Master of Project Management (Post Disaster Project Management) will develop your specialised theoretical knowledge and technical skills in post disaster project management. The courses in this program have been designed to enable you to develop and apply your advanced and specialised knowledge of post disaster project management to a range of organisations and contexts. You will be equipped to work in non-government organisations, government organisations, and also for contractors/consultancies who specialise in the field of Post Disaster Project Management.
This program replicates industry and professional practice contexts and will equip you to work independently and effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve expert project and portfolio management. In doing so you will develop your knowledge of specialised areas within project management including procurement, client management, community engagement, planning and scheduling.
This program emphasises the application of theoretical knowledge to practice and will develop your capacity to respond to current and emerging industry issues and trends. You will critically engage with project management theory and best practice principles, as well as evaluate and implement project management strategies as appropriate to the industry and organisational context.
Upon successful completion of this program you will be a professional practitioner with high level specialised knowledge of the project management field, specialising in the Post Disaster Project Management field. You will be able to assess and circumvent project risk, and utilise specialised post disaster project management strategy to provide effective project management in the post disaster reconstruction context. You will further develop the skills and knowledge required to respond to organisational issues and imperatives, and to diverse client needs. You will confidently lead others and provide expert and strategic advice to meet project deliverables and optimise project outcomes and success. You will be highly adept and experienced in collaborating with diverse project stakeholders and be able to research and interpret new developments to inform your expert advice and decision making. In preparation for professional and leadership roles in a variety of project management organisational contexts including small and large scale organisations, you will be able to perform a broad range of roles that project management entails, ranging from working on project teams to leading them.
As a graduate of this program, you will be able to apply your specialised knowledge, research and information technology technical skills to the Post Disaster Project Management field. Your highly developed research skills will enable you to research new developments as you address industry issues and problems.
A capstone experience is offered through the courses Industry Project Investigation and Research Investigation 2. Through an individually negotiated professional practice or scholarly research project, you will integrate and synthesise your knowledge, connect theory to practice as well as demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.
You will gain skills in local and global contexts for research and life-long learning to enable you to confidently contribute to a profession that is always evolving.
Successful completion of this program provides a pathway into a PhD. Upon successful completion of this program you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

The Graduate Diploma in Project Management (GD194) is available as an exit award of this program if you have successfully completed the 96 credit points listed in that structure. If you wish to exit early with the Graduate Diploma you must have completed all 96 credit points.
Upon successful completion this program, you may be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University, including Postgraduate Research programs, subject to each program’s entry requirements.

You must have successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification, or a minimum of 8 years professional work experience in a related industry. Applicants with professional experience at a senior level that is less than 8 years may also be considered.
To have your professional experience considered you must submit with your application a CV and a personal statement detailing your experience.
English language requirement
A minimum of IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English requirements web page.

The Master of Project Management is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) www.rics.org/au and the Project Management Institute (PMI) www.pmi.org, and endorsed by Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) www.aipm.com.au.
Students of the Master of Project Management are eligible for student membership with RICS and then progress through to full member upon graduation.
This program is informed by consultation with the School's Industry Advisory Committee, whose membership is drawn from the construction, project management and property industry.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.
